It's all in the mind...

So another week - running a bit all over the place due to travel (which didn't allow even any tready sessions).
But looks like two long runs at the weekend will keep me on track.
Pace is slow but running getting more consistent. We start to introduce some interval training after this week to coincide with a break from travelling.

Generally feels OK with it - think it might be time to change out the trainers. Was hanging out for 1000km on Nike but just realised all the missing bits of data due to technical issues and flat batteries means I am probably at that point with the shoes anyway. Will do the long run tomorrow and then decide.

Listening to Marathon Talk - wish I had found it before - just love the enthusiasm. Thinking of doing some park runs as a result to boost speed training.

All over the place and back again

So more travelling this week - managed two treadmill runs in SA. One down on the week but adding an extra mile to the rest.
Pace, style, method all over the place - ran 6 miles this morning faster than all the runs on this plan. Felt good so I'll call that a pace run then.

Great news - new incentive arrived through the post..... new Lunar glide Nike+ ID's .... in simple words. Really light, my own colour design (black with black off set with black design) and FFS now on both shoes :o).  Plan is to pass the next Nike + level (so 1000km) and then switch across. Let's see if I can resist.

Looking at  the training plan will mean 30+ miles this week.

Am meeting up with Syed tomorrow for three laps of Virginia Water lake (so 13.5 miles) - let's see how slow I go.

Liking the slow running

So settling to t he Stu Mittleman slow burn approach. Down with a cold at the moment but still chugging on.... feels all good so far! :o)

Tread-milling round Europe

Started the travelling cycle - and looks like for now the treadmill is the favoured form for running. So J'Berg this week and then Spain, Italy, France...... aiming for a jog round Red Square as the last point of the route :o)

Day 1 Week 1 (again)

So it starts again - same but very different.

Day 1 week 1 of a 27 week plan.
The bluebells and bird song today we uplifting.

Using a different approach - the Stu Mittleman Slow Burn. So started running slower than I can do - but looking for better continuous motion.

Really excited about starting again. :o)  Coming back slower but harder.

So the travelling begins...

And flight delayed back on Friday night....
Read a great book to make up for it - think it means changing my training plan

From Couch Potato to Deranged Vegetable....

On Sunday 9th August 2009 I started running.
Then Sunday 25th April 2010 I completed the London Marathon....
What a journey !!
Marathon Day was simply a fantastic experience, the run wasn't anything to write home about (5 hours 15mins - so average of 12 minutes a mile) but I completed and thanks to many many great people we have raised over £3000 for a great charity.
So what have I lost over the time - well...... a couple of stone in weight, a couple of toe nails, ran through two pairs of trainers, put my ego away (with so many people ran past me in training and in events :o) there is no place for ego) - so all things that I needed!
And what have I gained....  memories that money just can't buy, a great sense of achievement, medals (London, Silverstone and Wokingham events), more money for charity than I hoped, the views from the 500 miles I covered in training, a sense of purpose, an outlet for the stress and pressure through some major changes, friends, reconnecting with old friends, the good wishes and support of so many great people and a big hug from all my family!!!
So ALL GOOD  x1,000,000%
A BIG BIG THANK YOU EVERYONE.....  and guess what, I want to do it again :o)
