Falling apart

Man - all runs seem really hard at the moment. Sore knees, hips and shoulders - feeling like an old man.....

Silverstone Half Marathon

Running with about 10,000 others was quite an experience.

The bobbing heads in the sunshine was great as everyone snaked around the F1 circuit was something to be seen.

Pace not great but refueling seemed to work much better....

And that would be half way!!!  oh my ....ISF!

"You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Wayne Gretzky

So feeling not in the best shape and concerned how I will run on Sunday........  I signed up for Marlow to Maidenhead Half Marathon (July), the Windsor Great Park Half Marathon (September) and the Great South Run (10 miles) (October) for later in the summer.

Just to keep me focused on progression or is it just continuation of the madness

Net result I remain committed. :o)

Does fit with the new key saying "ISF"

Silverstone coming into view....

So Sunday marks the next milestone, the Silverstone half marathon on Sunday.
Not sure what to expect - general running in the past few weeks has been very mixed.
I looked back at running notes and no :o) to be seen since well before Christmas.

Just hope that I don't have to use the gravel run offs if I misjudge a corner..... !

Oh the Places.....

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.

You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go.
You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed.
You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead.

Wherever you fly, you’ll be the best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
I'm sorry to say so
But, sadly it's true

That bang-ups and hang-ups
Can happen to you.
On and on you will hike, And I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up of course, as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go.

So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
And remember that Life’s a great balancing act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.

Will you succeed?
Yes you will indeed!
(98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed).  :o)

7 weeks and counting

So at week 15 of the 22 week plan. Have to say the last couple of weeks I have been the most inconsistent.

Too many distractions which have made going running beyond me. Also haven’t felt on top form so have listened to my body which equally agreed that backing off was the thing to do. Had a running MoT from the family physio which put back, shoulders and hips back into running order.

Went mountain biking yesterday, which again I performed like a cart horse – and visions of a cart horse on a bike about right on this occasion. Really enjoyable but did reinforce the need to do some more upper body strength conditioning – also that I will mix the running with biking through the summer after the marathon.

The school boy mistakes in the Wokingham Half did knock my confidence a bit (although 2hrs 12 was an OK time for me) and with Silverstone Half looming next week the anticipation and butterflies are building…. Which is very strange as it is not like anyone will notice me plod in down the back of the field – but all the same it is a very public private event in my head.

Did start looking at what runs next – the Maidenhead to Marlow tow path HM looks promising and in the back on my mind there is another full marathon in July. But I think we will see what the next 7 weeks offers up.

When the mental fuel tanks are on zero...

When the mental fuel tanks is on zero...you suffer.... A LOT!
9 miserable miles in great conditions - sun shining, lake looking good.... and I suffered..... again.
Only one thing to do - go back tomorrow and do it again!!! :o)
