After a few days off - back for the first 5km - and man was that hard going!!!!
This running is a mental thing - today was hard hard hard.
New trainers were great on the plus side and I did complete again. Just feels like a mountain to climb back to where I was a week ago....
See how it goes tomorrow again :o)

Sliding and a Gliding
4 miles today - in the first snow of the year.
Roller coaster day - needed to run - but then found it hard work.
But then clocked a new personal best for the mile!!! How does that work! :o)
No sense no feeling.... no sense of pace .....

One cold evening in December
Posted best times yet!!!!
8'49" for the mile, 28'59" for 5k and 59'16" for 10k....
Have to go slower from now on!
So ran 10.02 km on 15/12/2009 at 10:12 PM with a pace of 5'55"/km - the other strange thing is that it tracks start time not end time... so some people think 10:12 is late, but that was when I started so got home about 11:20.. :o)

Week 3 - another 20 miles on
So another week on.... 20 miles.
Temptation is to push - must take it steady. Improving times makes me want to push - but with it getting colder sure that will naturally slow me down to a better pace.

From couch potato to deranged vegetable
Here's my story....
Having given up a gym membership as I never went and not exercised for years, I reached a point when I needed to do something..
So about 2 years ago I brought the best Nike+ trainers with the ipod connections and I was set. And I didn't run a step, there was always a reason not to do it - a young family, some work thing to do... and time passed.
Until one day, Sunday 9th August this year in fact, started running. My single ambition was to improve my well being. So I started a program called 'couch potato to 5k'. It was planned to take 9 weeks. Day one of was hard (and I'm not joking) but it comprised 'running' for 1 minute, then walking for 90 seconds which was then repeated 6 times. So I managed actually 6 minutes of 'running'. But I completed it, running for all the allotted time.
And so I had begun, three times a week. Each day was difficult but I just made sure I ran for the full time (always very slowly) but always running for the committed time. So fast forward 22nd November having completed 39 runs, taken 24.47 hours, 205 kilometers or 127.38 miles I got confirmed a place in the Amdocs NSPCC team (due to an injury to one of the original team).
I now have a 22 week training plan (just finished week 2) and by the time it comes to marathon day I will have covered 568 miles and spent a large number of early morning or late nights to be ready. My ambition is simply to finish and in doing so raise as much money as I possible can for NSPCC.
So here is how to sponsor

Past the 250km mark
Almost forgot to mention... on Nike + I moved to the green band. Which marks since August I have just passed the 250km mark.
To put it in context my training plan means I will run 958km (including mararthon day) between now and 25th April.... Woooohoooooo bring it on

End of week 2: 20 mile
So today was 9 miles to complete week 2 of 22. So glad I was running today and not with that hangover of yesterday :o)
Was pretty good today - 9 miles doesn't feel to bad. Went for an hour and a half walk pushing Edgar for his morning fresh air and that seems to help the muscles recover.
Easier week next week, 17 miles but with the trip to Atlanta maybe need to juggle the days.
