Houston we have a problem

So not one but two Nike+ sensors go flat today.... didn't realise how much I depend on it till it's not available!
Used mapmyrun instead - only found out that hadn't turned on most of the features that would have helped.
Another ugly run - just 3 miles, felt like more.....
So my stats all screwed up... again didn't realise what a slave to the stats I have become. :o)
Feels like the lowest point of training so far - let's hope it is !!!!!!

Sunday 24 January 2010

90 Days to go and counting...

Short 5km today - was tough going..... guess that is the after effects of yesterdays 15 miles.
So that was 33 miles for the week - and it feels like it! Not sure if it ever gets easier, I'm thinking not.... :o)

Saturday 23 January 2010

Ouch!

OUCH ! OUCH ! OUCH!
So 15 miles (Ascot and back). More hill than I thought and felt like they were all up !
Passed the 500km mark since I started, took just over 5 miuntes off half marathon pace and 4 minutes better than my last 15 miles! But felt like s**t - really hard!!! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

All that winter can offer in one run

Short 5 mile run this morning, started with cold but light shower which quickly turned into heavy downpour. Not happy with that it turned into sleet and finished with heavy snow..... all in 45 minutes!
And man was I cold and completely wet! You have gotta love winter :o)

Tuesday 19 January 2010

I've come a long way already....

Just reflected this morning. If anyone (including me) had said 6 months ago that I would get up at 6:30 and run 10 miles straight off... I would have laughed at them... But that was today.

With over 2 minutes of best 10k pace on Sunday - which was an ugly run if ever there was one!

Some way to go.... and as the saying goes.. "there's no finishing line... "

Saturday 16 January 2010

5 days rest: Must be mad

Went 5 days without a run - the snow and ice conditions meant even I thought better not to.
So just a short 5k today and what was I thinking! So I pushed it and took 14 seconds of my best mile time and 1 minute 18 seconds off my best 5km.
I will pay tomorrow ....
Have to say - great not to run on snow :o)

Sunday 10 January 2010

Week 7 - 163 miles

End of another week - upto 163 miles, 30 miles this week. Half coming in the epic 15 mile slog.
Hoping I will improve once this snow and ice goes. It is like running in sand and feels like twice the effort ! :o)

Saturday 9 January 2010

Re-thinking how much I like the snow...

So passed another milestone today - 15 miles in 2hr 25mins.
SUPER hard running on the snow/ice/slush today - thought I wasn't going to make it. Paused for stretch after 10.5 miles and thought about cutting short but just couldn't bring myself to do that! Just plodded on... and on.
The difference between 10 miles and anything greater is really noticeable - my body feels it a lot! But hey 105 days days to go so now the time to get the miles in.

Friday 8 January 2010

Let it snow, Let it snow.... let it snow

After a couple of days of rest due to heavy snow - short three miles today in the snow.
All good - looks like I'm on for 15 miles tomorrow, which looks like 5 laps of the extended golf course....

Monday 4 January 2010

132 miles

End of week 6 (of 22) and 132 miles out fo 619....
Time is just flying by.....

Saturday 2 January 2010

Another milestone - 13.1 miles (half marathon distance)

So today marked another new milestone. 13.1 mile which is HALF MARATHON distance.
Had to pause a couple of times in the second mile to re-stretch - but it did the trick and on I went.
The last couple of miles was like running in thick air (the timer said that same pace) but was v tough.....
I have to say running when its really cold (like today) gives me problems as I have no sense of pace and my legs just don't warm up ....
But onwards ever onwards.
